The session looks at the difference between Leaders and Managers, and establishes how the skills and behaviours two approaches dovetail together to create and ‘all round’ effective person who runs a team of people, what ever the situation.  So, whether the attendee is a manager of a team in the business, running a temporary team i.e. a project team, or looking to progress into a position where looking after a team of people is part of the role, then this course is for them.

Part of the session is based around a well known business model called ‘Situational Leadership’.  As it’s only an introduction to leadership – a basic version of the model is used.  This is enough to provide the understanding required.

The aim of the session is:

To introduce you to the basic of leadership and how the skills and behaviour can be practically used in the business

And the objectives:

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand the benefits of knowing the basics of leadership
  • Be able to describe the differences between managers and leaders
  • Know the 8 functions of an effective leader
  • Be able to demonstrate the use of a range of leadership approaches to use in a variety of situations.
